Rob Morris

Vagabond Chaplain

A defiant hope

Rob is a sought-after speaker, facilitator, and advisor that walks alongside people, communities, leaders and organizations navigating the complexities and storms of real life, not with a map or a formula, but with a focus on your own compass. In times that feel unmoored and disorienting, when grief, struggle, and uncertainty leave you adrift, Rob offers space to slow down, recenter, and recover what matters most: your heart, your hope, and your vision. His presence is steady, his perspective hard-won, and his approach grounded in the belief that being fully human is not a liability, but a strength.

Meet Rob

Rob Morris has spent more than 40 years in nonprofit leadership mobilizing people to care about the things that matter. His work reflects a deep conviction that leadership begins with listening, humility, and humanity.

Rob is an inspiring speaker, seasoned leader and thought-provoking teacher. He is the Co-founder and former CEO of Love146, a leading international organization working to end child trafficking. For over two decades, Rob led Love146 through seasons of growth, heartbreak, innovation, and impact—shaping survivor care, prevention, and public understanding around the globe. Prior to founding Love146, Rob served with Mercy Ships International, directing training at their international operations center.

An ordained minister, Rob Morris can serve as a chaplain to organizations, groups, and individuals on a short- or long-term basis, offering wisdom and support wherever people are searching for meaning. While his work is rooted in faith, he’s known for offering care, insight, and wisdom in both faith-based and secular spaces. He has lectured and taught in over 20 countries on issues of faith, justice, compassion, and human dignity.

Through teaching, storytelling, conversation and a pastoral presence, he walks alongside people in the daily grind, in the midst of crisis, leading communities, wrestling with purpose, or facing the unknown. His style is grounded and curious, wise without being prescriptive, and marked by the kind of defiant hope that doesn’t deny the struggle but insists that change is possible.

Rob brings lived experience to his work with leaders, communities, and movements. He draws from deep wells of insight in faith, compassion, justice, values centered leadership, human trafficking and the world of adoption. Rob and his wife Christel live in New England and are parents to seven children, including five through adoption.

A Chaplain?

A chaplain is someone who stands in the spaces between hope and despair, faith and doubt, burnout and belonging. They are not confined by walls or titles or pews; their work happens in break rooms and boardrooms, in quiet corners and chaotic moments, wherever people are trying to make sense of life.

At their core, chaplains are present. They show up—not to fix or promote an agenda, but to witness and accompany. Whether someone is religious, spiritual, agnostic, or atheist, the chaplain’s care is the same: a commitment to love, to listen, and to lift.

In a world that often feels fractured—where religious institutions and corporate culture face an uphill battle in building trust and connection in people’s daily lives—chaplains offer a countercurrent. Chaplains are a refuge. In times of suffering, they offer peace. In chaos, they offer dignity. In isolation, they are company. Their job is to hold space for people to explore, express, and exercise their deepest values, without judgment.

They speak truth to power when needed. They counsel leaders on the ethical dimensions of their decisions and attend to the morale and spiritual well-being of everyone, from the executive to the intern. And they bring sacrificial love into places that need healing—love that’s not performative, but steadfast.

Everyone carries something. When that gets heavy, the chaplain says, let me help you carry that.

Cultivation

for groups

Bring in Rob when your team needs space to breathe, to dig deeper, and to reconnect with purpose. Rob offers growth opportunities for your team, cohort, or retreat through sessions that combine compelling teaching with intentional time to reflect, talk, and listen together. Whether in classrooms, on couches, or around conference tables, these moments foster trust, spark insight, and help groups move forward together. He brings grounded wisdom and the kind of questions that get people talking—not just to him, but to each other. This isn’t a one-size-fits-all curriculum. Rob collaborates to shape sessions around your goals—inviting dialogue, unlearning, and authentic connection.

NAVIGATION

for leaders

These are transformative conversations for people in the thick of it. Rob brings outside perspective and a listening ear to leaders who often feel isolated and alone. This is a space where you can be authentically human. Rob doesn’t show up with a program. He shows up with perspective. With a listening posture. With questions that help leaders in insular or high-pressure environments find conviction and direction. Think of him less as a coach, more as a compass—less as a consultant, more as a wayfinder. Whether it’s a few conversations or an extended season of support, this is space for clarity, honesty, and authentically human leadership—centered in humanity, humility, and heart.

presence

for organizations

Would your organization benefit by having a chaplain? Whether for a season or something ongoing, Rob offers spiritual care, clarity, and conversation for leadership teams, staff, and communities, non-profit and even for profit enterprises – any organization navigating complexity or mission fatigue. Rob provides thoughtful and compassionate care, meeting people with wisdom and a deep commitment to human dignity. This can include a tailored mix of speaking, group work, and one-on-one support—designed in collaboration with you. Whether you’re looking for someone to walk alongside your leadership team, or a more embedded presence across your whole staff, Rob shows up with grounded insight, generous questions, and a steady focus on what matters most.

Help Sustain The Work

The Vagabond Chaplaincy gives structure to Rob’s calling. But some of his most transformative encounters aren’t planned or paid for. This work can be sustained by the generosity of people who believe in it. If you’ve been impacted by Rob, or believe in what he brings to the world, your support helps keep him and his family going.

What it has meant to others...

“I can count on one hand the number of people who truly made an indelible mark on my life -- who fundamentally changed my path. You're one of those people. I'm grateful that you believed in me and showed me what audacity looks like in action. Thank you for making this big, complex, scary world a whole lot better."

Rob Morris brings rare passion, deep wisdom and a life of unparalleled experience to every challenge and opportunity. Rob has been a profound gift to us (thank you, Rob!) and to so many friends, leaders, teams and organizations.

"In our fast-paced, make it quick, I haven't got all day world… I don't think I've met a person who speaks in stories as much as you do. My work in marketing has been more impactful and time with family and friends has been richer because I've learned from you — answers aren't as important as we think they are."

Rob is a person of integrity and uncompromisable values. His beliefs are lived out in his actions, even in circumstances that are especially challenging and perhaps even dangerous. Rob truly walks the talk, a rare quality that we all want for ourselves and desire to see in others. And this leads to a determination to find and live with hope, despite everything flying in the face of hope. Because the bottom line is, Rob is a person who loves deeply. And love…well, that’s the key to everything, isn’t it?
Stephanie Goins, PhD
“Thank you for always setting the standard that every person matters, and for your willingness to listen to all people. I value the way that you take the time to listen, hear all sides of a situation, and then bring a team back to what matters the most”
Laurie D.
Social Worker & Program Leader
“Maybe the great challenge of life is to close the gap between who we are and who we are capable of being. Rob inspires the most creative, compassionate and encouraging version of myself. Rob helps me close the gap. His great gift to me has been to talk me off the ledge of uncompromising absolutes and encourage me to explore the beautiful shades of grey and spaces in between our self-created boundaries - where there is peace, rest and a deeper sense of living.”
